Licensing Electronic Resources for Public Libraries
The Gale Business Plans Handbook provides successful sample business plans in the manufacturing, retail, and service industries in North America.
Entrepreneurs in British Columbia can now benefit from expanded access to The Gale Business Plans Handbook at their local libraries, thanks to the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre's Small Business Accelerator Program (SBA), with support from the Libraries and Literacy Branch.
The four most recent volumes of the Handbook, licensed in January 2012, cover a range of new and updated industries.
With generous financial assistance from the Sutherland Foundation and the negotiation efforts of Libraries and Literacy, the British Columbia Libraries Cooperative and Gale Publishing, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre was able to arrange an excellent one-time price for The Gale Business Plans Handbook in electronic form. The original license agreement offered perpetual online access to current and previous issues, remote access for users, and unlimited simultaneous users. This meant that The Gale Business Plans Handbook could be accessed by over 2 million British Columbians!
The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is grateful for the continued support of the Sutherland Foundation, Libraries and Literacy, and Gale Publishing.
