SBA Infographic Update 2014

Last Updated: April 27, 2017

We're excited to present an updated version of our infographic and showcase some of our key accomplishments over the last three years of the SBA program! We have created this to reach out to our diverse audience of prospective entrepreneurs, small businesses, librarians working in public and academic libraries, colleagues in business support organizations, educators and students at UBC and beyond.

Highlights

Using Google Analytics and various metrics we have evaluated some of the key advances made by SBA in the last year:

  • Since our last analytics report in 2013, the number of visits to our site have been increased by more than 45%, where out of 97,240 independent Canadian visitors nearly 60,900 were located in communities in British Columbia.
  • SBA's most unique and popular tool is the collection of  Accelerator Guides. These guides, grouped by industry type, increase entrepreneur efficiency by providing quick links directly to relevant information in your industry. The top visited categories are Business Services, Retail & Wholesale, Food & Drink, Real Estate & Home Improvement, and Technology & New Media.
  • The combination of our SBA directory members, partner organizations and over 1,300 twitter (@sba_bc) followers makes for a robust virtual BC business community that support our entrepreneurs. Thanks for your continued engagement!

BC Statistics ranked BC as 1st in terms of small business per capita in 2013. There were approximately 382,200 small businesses operating in British Columbia in 2013, accounting for 98% of all businesses in the province. A 2013 BMO poll, reported by BMO Financial Group, found that one-third (36%) of Canadians women like the idea of starting up their own business within the next ten years. If you are are interested in starting your own business, we want to help you find the information you need to make your business a success!
