Expectations for Guest Bloggers

The Small Business Accelerator is a library-led initiative of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC). We develop and curate freely available tools to help entrepreneurs structure market research, grow their business, gauge potential market size or learn the latest industry trends. Managed by specialized librarians, the Small Business Accelerator (SBA) provides free access to reliable resources to help entrepreneurs build a successful business. 

Guidelines

We occasionally accept posts from current business owners, business instructors and other industry, professional and academic leaders who are familiar with the needs of small to medium enterprises in British Columbia. See samples from our recent expert guests.

  • The SBA serves prospective entrepreneurs, small business owners, students and business support organizations primarily located in British Columbia. We invite you to spend some time on our website to ensure this is an appropriate venue for your content.
  • The SBA blog is not a space for self-promotion.  Although we believe in collaborative promotion, the SBA is committed to providing our audience with free information services. The blog is not a space to advertise your services or products. Please limit self-promotion to a link to your website or blog in your bio.
  • We are only interested in original content. If you would like to submit a proposal, please review this page and fill in the form on the next page.
  • If you have published content elsewhere that you feel would be of use to our audience, please simply notify us by email at lib.sba@ubc.ca. The SBA blog often references and directly links to content that we deem valuable.
  • Submissions must meet our team's quality standards in order to be published.

Content Tips

  • We only accept well-written and high-quality original articles.
  • Include proper attribution of data, quotations, and other third-party content referenced in the article.
  • Include a short bio and photo (optional) for inclusion with your post.
  • Typically our posts range in length from 500 to 900 words. 

Submission Process

  • Please fill in the webform (click the button below).
  • Note that we will only review requests from current business owners, business instructors and other industry, professional and academic leaders who are familiar with the needs of small to medium enterprises in Canada.
  • The Small Business Accelerator provides free access to credible resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses. As such we do not offer payment for guest blog posts.
