In this section we have gathered some of the most popular information sources, such as trade journals, magazines, blogs, and association websites. Industry information is always changing. For the latest news, current issues and popular opinions, try following one or more of these sources. In addition, interacting with the websites that provide this information through commenting and asking questions may also provide you with more information.

Associations

Trade associations often publish free industry newsletters that are excellent sources of information for your business plan. Such newsletters often have articles that cover in-depth topics on business management, manufacturing practices, how-tos, and current industry news.

Canadian Education Association (CEA) | The CEA is a cross-Canada network with a strong membership base of leaders in the education, research and policy, not for profit and business sectors.

International Tutoring Association (ITA) | The ITA is North America's premiere international professional tutoring association that represents both private and organization-based tutors. Follow the ITA on Twitter @itatutor

National Tutoring Association (NTA) | >The NTA is the oldest and largest professional association dedicated exclusively to tutoring, and represents the interests of thousands of tutors in the U.S. and 13 other countries.

College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) | CRLA is a US-based group of student-oriented professionals active in the fields of reading, learning assistance, developmental education, tutoring, and mentoring at the college/adult level.

The Association for the Tutoring Profession (ATP) | The ATP is a US-based tutoring organization that provides assistance, guidance, development and certification to tutors globally.

Magazines & Trade Journals

Trade journals (often called magazines or trade publications) can be very useful in helping you find current articles relating to business research. Contact your local research library to determine which trade journal subscriptions they have. There are also free trade publications that you can access online. 

Education Canada | Education Canada is published five times a year (January, March, June, September, November) by the Canadian Education Association.

MindShare Learning Report | The MindShare Learning Report is Canada's premier learning & technology industry news monthly. The MindShare Learning Report features engaging Vodcasts, Canadian industry news headlines in the K-12 and Higher Ed market segments, successful practices, and market research and job listings.

Mentoring & Tutoring | The purpose of this journal is to help advance knowledge and understanding of mentoring, tutoring and/or partnership in learning through a focus on high-quality research papers and development activities. Published 4 times per year.

Blogs

Tutor Mentor Institute Blog | First hand experience and advice from tutor Daniel Bassill.

The Wealthy Tutor Blog | The Tutoring Blog is published by The Wealthy Tutor, a website dedicated to helping would-be entrepreneurs to launch their own tutoring businesses and realize their dreams.

Discussion Forums

Tutors Nirvana | A tutoring forum that includes information from other tutors on how to run your business.

A to Z Teacher Stuff Forums | An active discussion forum that allows you to interact with other educators on various topics.

Consultant Websites

MarketWatch - Industry Analyzer | The Industries section contains current data on Dow Jones Industry Sectors. Aggregate data as well as company-specific data is available.

Firsthand | A free source of industry information. Use the Industry Profiles to research growing industries and best industries by major, and Company Rankings and Profiles to find news, company information, and industry-specific sample professions. Basic monthly membership is free and offers access to blogs, discussion forums, and job listings.
